Microvi Recognized as 2017 Small Business of the Year

June 6, 2017 – Microvi was recognized as the Small Business of the Year for the 10th Senate District by California State Senator Bob Wieckowski, the company announced today. The award was presented to Microvi at a ceremony in Sacramento as part of the California Small Business Association’s Small Business Day 2017.

The recognition follows Microvi’s recent awards, including the 2017 Business Innovation Award, the 2017 Environmental Achievement Award, and the company’s first-place finish in the 2017 East Bay Innovation Award in the clean tech category.

“Access to clean water is an increasingly important issue in our state and around the world,” said Senator Bob Wieckowski, the chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. “We need safe, sustainable systems in place and Microvi’s advanced nitrate removal technology is providing more than 200 million gallons of potable water to thousands of households in California. Through its advanced technology and strategic partnerships, Microvi is finding solutions to our water and energy challenges around the world.”

The day-long ceremony included presentations by Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom; Kevin de Leon, President Pro Tempore of the Senate; Anthony Rendon, Speaker of the Assembly; Dave Jones, Insurance Commissioner, and Patricia Bates, Senate Minority Leader.

“California’s small businesses are the economic engine of our state,” said Betty Jo Toccoli, President of the California Small Business Association. “Microvi was celebrated for their successful small business and contributions to the community.”
